Finding a workout you love while pregnant can feel overwhelming. Some studios turn you away. Others hesitate to modify. At The PilatesBarre, we take a different approach: if your doctor has cleared you to exercise, you are welcome in any of our classes. Prenatal Pilates in Dallas doesn’t have to mean giving up the workouts you loved before pregnancy — it can mean continuing to move in ways that support your changing body, all the way through your third trimester.

Founded in 2011, The PilatesBarre was the first group Pilates fitness studio in Dallas, and pregnant clients have been part of our community from the beginning. What follows is our approach to prenatal Pilates in Dallas — how we welcome expectant clients, what to expect in each of our three class formats, and how to book your first class.

Our Policy: Doctor’s Clearance Comes First

Every pregnancy is different. Some clients feel strong and energetic through all three trimesters. Others need to scale back significantly. Because we are not medical providers, our policy is simple and consistent: we invite pregnant clients to join any of our classes as long as their doctor confirms exercise is safe for them.

Once you have that clearance, our instructors are trained to help you modify any movement that no longer feels right. There is no separate class you have to sign up for. There is no waiver you have to hunt down. Bring your doctor’s go-ahead and step onto the schedule that already fits your life.

What to Expect in Each Class Format

We offer three signature class formats, and pregnant clients are welcome in all of them. Here is what makes each one worth considering when you are expecting.

BarreFormer Pilates

BarreFormer Pilates is a 50-minute Pilates-inspired workout on our custom-built BarreFormers, using wrist weights, ankle weights, Bala weighted bars, and Bala rings. Because the resistance comes from spring tension rather than gravity or heavy loading, many clients find BarreFormer Pilates to be one of the most sustainable options through pregnancy. Movements can be modified for a growing belly, and the supported positions offered on our BarreFormers make it easier to stay connected to your core throughout every trimester.

TreadBarre

TreadBarre is a 50-minute class that pairs running cardio intervals on our Woodway 4Front treadmills with Pilates strength training using our Pilates chair, springboard, free weights, and resistance bands. If you were a runner before pregnancy and your doctor has cleared you to continue, our Woodway 4Front treadmills are gentler on your joints than a standard belt-driven treadmill. Pace and incline are always within your control, and every strength segment can be modified with the guidance of your instructor.

StrideBarre

StrideBarre is a 50-minute class combining power walking cardio on our Woodway 4Front treadmills with Pilates strength training using our Pilates chair, springboard, free weights, and resistance bands. Many clients gravitate toward StrideBarre later in pregnancy because the power walking format is lower-impact than running while still delivering a genuine cardio challenge. Weighted vests are typically encouraged, but pregnant clients are welcome to skip the vest and focus on stride and rhythm.

Communicating With Your Instructor

The best prenatal Pilates experience in Dallas starts with a short conversation before class. When you check in, let your instructor know you are pregnant, how far along you are, and any movements your doctor has asked you to avoid. Our instructors will keep an eye on you throughout class and offer modifications in real time — no need to raise your hand or interrupt the flow. If something feels off during a movement, we would rather you rest a set than push through.

We recommend hydrating well before you arrive, bringing a water bottle, and dressing in layers you can adjust as your body temperature shifts. If it is your first class with us, plan to arrive about 10 minutes early so we can walk you through the equipment.

Two Dallas Locations

Our University Park location at 6815 Hillcrest Ave and our Devonshire location at 5425 W Lovers Ln both offer all three class formats. Whichever studio is closer to your OB, your job, or your home, you can plan your prenatal routine around a schedule that actually works.

Try All Three Before You Commit

Because every pregnancy is different, we recommend trying each of our formats to see which one feels best right now. Our Try All Three for $69 intro pack gives you one BarreFormer Pilates class, one TreadBarre class, and one StrideBarre class. You’ll come away with a clear sense of which format suits your body today — and which one you might rotate back to as your pregnancy progresses.

Pregnancy is not the time to disappear from the studios you love. If your doctor says you’re clear to exercise, we would love to have you at either of our Dallas locations. Book your first class at The PilatesBarre and keep moving with strength, community, and care.
