If you have been searching for a Dallas workout that is challenging without wrecking your joints, you have probably already wondered: is there something between a slow walk and a full sprint? There is. It is called StrideBarre, and it is one of the three signature class formats at The PilatesBarre — Dallas’s original Pilates fitness studio since 2011.

StrideBarre is the class that surprises everyone. People expect “just a walking class.” What they get is 50 minutes of full-body work that leaves them stronger, leaner, and walking out wondering why no one told them sooner.

What StrideBarre actually is

StrideBarre (Walk + Work) is a 50-minute class that pairs power walking cardio on our Woodway 4Front treadmills with Pilates strength training. The cardio half is built around inclines, weighted vests (encouraged for anyone ready for them), and intentional pacing — not just walking until time runs out. The strength half uses our Pilates chair, springboard, free weights, and resistance bands to build full-body strength, balance, and stability.

It is lower impact than running. It is not lower intensity. The combination of weighted incline walking and Pilates-driven resistance work delivers a workout most people do not expect from a class with “walk” in the name.

Why our Woodway 4Front treadmills change the equation

Most treadmills are loud, joint-jarring belts that punish your knees over time. Woodway 4Front treadmills — the same ones used by professional athletes and high-performance training facilities — are different. The slat-belt design absorbs impact, the smoother motion mimics natural walking, and the build is engineered to last under heavy daily use.

What that means for you in StrideBarre: you can power walk at a steep incline for the full cardio portion of class and walk out without the knee or hip soreness you would feel on a standard treadmill. Your body works hard. Your joints do not.

Who StrideBarre is for

StrideBarre works for nearly every fitness level, which is why our regulars come from every starting point:

  • People rebuilding after an injury — power walking is the gentler cardio option when running is not on the table yet.
  • Runners cross-training in the off-season — the Pilates strength portion targets the stabilizer muscles distance running tends to neglect.
  • Anyone over 40 looking for joint-friendly cardio — Woodway treadmills are a game-changer for longer-term knee, hip, and ankle health.
  • Athletes adding strength work — tennis players, pickleball players, golfers, and team-sport athletes use StrideBarre as their Pilates-based strength day.
  • Beginners — the format scales naturally. Walk at the incline that challenges you. Use the resistance level that feels right.

How StrideBarre fits into a Dallas weekly routine

A lot of clients pair StrideBarre with one or two of our other formats during the week. A classic rotation looks like:

  • Monday — BarreFormer Pilates (Balance + Burn) on our custom-built BarreFormers. Our lowest-impact class and where most new clients start.
  • Wednesday — StrideBarre (Walk + Work) for the power walking + Pilates strength combination.
  • Friday — TreadBarre (Sprint + Sculpt) for the higher-cardio running interval version, paired with the same Pilates strength training.

Three days a week, three different stimuli, all 50 minutes, all on equipment that takes care of your body. See our full class schedule at either Dallas location to plan your week.

Try StrideBarre this week

The easiest way to find out if StrideBarre is your format is to take a class. Our Try All Three intro offer is $69 — one BarreFormer Pilates, one TreadBarre, and one StrideBarre class within 14 days. New clients only. It is the best way to map all three formats and find the one (or two, or three) that fits your body and your week.

Since 2011, The PilatesBarre has been the studio Dallas turns to when generic workouts stop working. StrideBarre is what happens when power walking meets Pilates — and it might be exactly what your routine has been missing.
