Reformer Pilates has become Dallas’s most-searched workout — and for good reason. The custom resistance, low-impact format, and full-body strength training combine to deliver results few other workout styles can match. If you’re looking for the best Reformer Pilates in Dallas — whether you’re in University Park, Highland Park, the Devonshire neighborhood, or anywhere across the city — here’s what makes The PilatesBarre worth knowing about.
Dallas’s First Group Pilates Studio (Since 2011)
Founded in 2011, The PilatesBarre was the first group Pilates fitness studio in Dallas. The studio was created around a simple idea: take the proven results of traditional Reformer Pilates, add an integrated barre and Pilates-inspired strength flow, and build a class format people would actually want to come back to.
The result was the BarreFormer — a custom-built piece of Pilates equipment exclusive to The PilatesBarre. It’s a Pilates reformer with an integrated barre that adds extra resistance, strength loading, and balance work. You won’t find a BarreFormer anywhere else in Dallas. Fifteen years later, The PilatesBarre operates two boutique studios in Dallas — one in University Park, one in the Devonshire neighborhood — and the BarreFormer is still our signature.
Three Signature Class Formats
The PilatesBarre offers three signature 50-minute class formats. Members can use the same membership for all three.
BarreFormer Pilates (Balance + Burn)
Our flagship class. A 50-minute Pilates-inspired workout on the BarreFormer using Bala weighted bars, Bala rings, wrist weights, and ankle weights. The format is low-impact and emphasizes core strength, balance, and full-body endurance. It’s our most accessible class — beginners, athletes recovering from injury, prenatal and postnatal clients, and longtime Pilates devotees all find their level here.
TreadBarre (Sprint + Sculpt)
A 50-minute hybrid class that pairs running cardio intervals on our Woodway 4Front treadmills with Pilates strength training using our Pilates chair, springboard, free weights, and resistance bands. TreadBarre delivers the cardio that traditional reformer classes don’t — and the Pilates strength training is too varied to be confused with a regular treadmill class. It’s the most-loved class for clients who want to consolidate their cardio and strength training into one session.
StrideBarre (Walk + Work)
The same Pilates strength training as TreadBarre, paired with power walking cardio on our Woodway 4Front treadmills. Weighted vests encouraged. StrideBarre is for clients who want the metabolic benefit of cardio without the impact of running — runners on recovery days, beginners building cardio capacity, anyone who’d rather walk than sprint, and clients returning to fitness who want a smarter start than a typical mat or reformer class alone.
Two Dallas Locations
The PilatesBarre operates two boutique studios in Dallas — one inside Park Cities, one just outside it. Both locations offer all three class formats, and both run early-morning, midday, and evening schedules covering 5 AM to 8:30 PM most weekdays. The same membership and class packs work at either studio.
University Park — 6815 Hillcrest Ave
Located in the heart of Park Cities, our University Park studio is a short distance from Southern Methodist University, Snider Plaza, and Highland Park Village. It’s the most accessible Reformer Pilates studio in the SMU and Park Cities area, with classes that fit both student schedules and the Park Cities professional crowd. Street parking is available on Hillcrest Avenue and surrounding streets. The studio runs early-morning classes starting at 5 AM Monday and Wednesday, and 6 AM Tuesday and Thursday.
Devonshire — 5425 W Lovers Lane
Our Devonshire studio sits in the Devonshire neighborhood of Dallas, just west of the Highland Park boundary and the Inwood Village area. It’s the closest dedicated Reformer Pilates studio to Highland Park residents who don’t want to drive into Park Cities, with dedicated on-site parking along W Lovers Lane. The Devonshire schedule mirrors University Park’s hours — early morning to evening, Monday through Sunday.
How The PilatesBarre Compares to Other Pilates in Dallas
Dallas has more Pilates options than any other city in Texas — Reformer, Lagree, classical, contemporary, hot, mat, and everything in between. Here’s where The PilatesBarre fits in the local landscape.
Versus traditional Reformer Pilates studios. Other studios use the standard Pilates reformer. The PilatesBarre uses the BarreFormer, which adds an integrated barre and Pilates flow elements that aren’t possible on a traditional reformer. If you’ve taken Reformer Pilates elsewhere in Dallas, the BarreFormer will feel familiar but more demanding — there’s more upper-body strength loading, more balance work, and more variety per class.
Versus Lagree / Megaformer studios. Lagree uses a different machine (the Megaformer) and emphasizes high-intensity slow-load work. The PilatesBarre is Pilates-based, with focus on the breath, control, and traditional Pilates principles plus added strength loading from the integrated barre. Both formats are effective; they’re solving for different things.
Versus barre studios (Pure Barre, The Bar Method, etc.). The PilatesBarre does not offer barre as a workout. The “barre” in our studio name refers to our BarreFormer equipment, not a ballet barre class. If you’re looking for traditional barre, The PilatesBarre isn’t the right fit — but if you’re looking for Pilates with more strength and balance work than the average reformer class, the BarreFormer is the most differentiated option in Dallas.
Versus single-format reformer studios. Many Dallas Pilates studios offer reformer classes only. The PilatesBarre is one of the few studios that combines Reformer-style Pilates with cardio plus Pilates strength training (TreadBarre and StrideBarre) — meaning members get both their strength and their cardio in one membership, at one studio. For busy Dallas professionals, that consolidation often matters more than any single class detail.
Who Comes to The PilatesBarre
Park Cities and Highland Park residents who want a boutique fitness experience close to home. SMU students and faculty. Dallas runners and tennis players cross-training with low-impact strength work. New moms returning to fitness postnatally. Athletes recovering from injury. Members of the Dallas creative and professional community who want a workout that fits a busy schedule. The instructor lineup ranges from seasoned classical Pilates teachers to contemporary instructors who emphasize music, energy, and progression — and the studio culture is consistently warm, welcoming to beginners, and high-effort.
